Our Story

Central Florida Rockets Adaptive Sports was established to expand access to adaptive sports in Florida, providing inclusive recreational and competitive opportunities for youth and individuals with physical disabilities throughout Central Florida. Our organization is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers who are passionate about creating inclusive opportunities for athletes of all abilities.

Our organization focuses on developing programs such as wheelchair basketball, adaptive recreation, and other inclusive sports opportunities designed to meet athletes where they are, whether they are new to adaptive sports or seeking higher-level competitive play. Through our wheelchair basketball programs, athletes can build confidence, improve physical fitness, develop teamwork skills, and participate in competitive events within a supportive community environment.

We also recognize the importance of building direct, sustainable partnerships with local recreation departments, municipalities, schools, and community organizations to help grow and strengthen adaptive sports opportunities throughout the region. By increasing awareness and access to wheelchair basketball and other adaptive sports programs, we aim to create a more inclusive and active community for individuals of all abilities.

Meet the Founder

The Founder of the Central Florida Rockets Adative Sports , Correy Rossi, discovered his passion for wheelchair basketball at just seven years old, beginning a journey that would shape his life and inspire countless others. From an early age, wheelchair basketball became more than a sport, it became his purpose.

He continued to develop his skills at the collegiate level with the renowned University of Illinois, home to one of the top wheelchair basketball programs in the United States. Correy went on to build an impressive professional career, playing for more than a decade with the Doneck Dolphins Trier in Germany, where he recently helped lead the team to victory in EuroCup 4 in Italy, earning recognition as the best in his class.

Alongside his professional success overseas, he proudly represented Team USA in international competitions. His achievements include, among others, a World Championship gold medal in Dubai and an Americas Cup gold medal in São Paulo, highlighting his elite performance and dedication to the sport.

Today, Correy remains deeply connected to wheelchair basketball by coaching and mentoring young athletes through the Florida Rockets Adaptive Sports program. His work in wheelchair basketball focuses on empowering children with physical disabilities, helping them build confidence, independence, and a strong sense of teamwork.

Correy’s lifelong commitment to wheelchair basketball continues to inspire athletes and families across Central Florida and beyond. His story is a powerful reminder that in wheelchair basketball, and in life, ability, not disability, defines potential.
